Alisa Smedley is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and relocated to the Washington, DC metro area in 2008. She is a subject matter expert in prison reentry. As the child of an incarcerated parent, her father spent 15 years in prison, she is passionate about re-entry. Ms. Smedley’s family members have served a combined 75 years of incarceration. Her interest in Circle of Rights stems from her concern about the poor quality of health experienced by some of the incarcerated and their children. Previously Alisa Smedley served as a County Executive Appointed Commissioner – serving on the Commission for Children and Youth. She is also a former Board member of Montgomery Housing Partnership, an affordable housing organization. Alisa travels around the country speaking on recovery and re-entry issue.
